MIAMI GARDENS — The Hurricanes’ run game had been sleepy the last two games.
Mark Fletcher Jr. woke it up.
The junior running back rushed for 106 yards and a career-high three touchdowns to lead the No. 9 Hurricanes (6-1, 2-1 ACC) to a 42-7 win over Stanford (3-5, 2-3 ACC) at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday.
Miami got off to a slow start in the win, looking less like the team that won its first five games and more like the one that lost to Louisville last week. The Hurricanes moved down the field on their first drive, but Carter Davis missed a field goal at the end.

MIAMI GARDENS — After Miami quarterback Carson Beck threw his third pick of the game, the Hurricanes’ chances of coming back against Louisville appeared to be over.
But that was not what the script said. He had another interception coming.
The No. 2 Hurricanes were driving for a potential tying field goal or winning touchdown, but Beck threw his fourth interception, allowing Louisville to seal a win 24-21 at Hard Rock Stadium on Friday.
After Beck’s third interception, Louisville tried to run with Isaac Brown, who had gashed UM all night. But Miami defensive back Keionte Scott forced a...
The Hurricanes’ first ACC availability report came out Thursday evening, listing the player who will not be available for Saturday’s game against Florida State.

MIAMI GARDENS — USF has been one of the upstart teams early in the college football season.
Miami put an end to that.
Despite a long weather delay, the No. 5 Hurricanes (3-0) rolled to a 49-12 win over the No. 18 Bulls at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday, picking up their second top-25 win in the first three weeks of the season.
“I think our guys, they didn’t want to be part of the narrative of somebody else’s success, (a) stepping stone kind of season,” Miami coach Mario Cristobal said. “That’s been the story all week. There was a lot of motivation going into this thing — besides the fact...
MIAMI GARDENS — The Hurricanes needed to avoid a let-down against a scuffling FCS opponent after beating Notre Dame last week.
No. 5 Miami (2-0) accomplished that, beating Bethune-Cookman (0-2) 45-3 at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday.
“You still have to play your guys, you’ve got to come to these games full throttle,” Miami coach Mario Cristobal said. “And our guys did a good job while they were in there, and they granted us the opportunity for the other guys to play, as well. So we got the best of both worlds.”
The Hurricanes wasted no time getting going. Miami forced a punt on...

Daniels, making his Miami debut after transferring from LSU, skied for a one-handed touchdown catch at the goal line with 12 seconds left before halftime in the No. 10 Hurricanes’ game against No. 6 Notre Dame on Sunday night at Hard Rock Stadium.

The Hurricanes missed out on one of their prime targets in this recruiting cycle.
Chaminade-Madonna five-star running back Derrek Cooper committed to Texas over offers from Miami, Georgia and many other programs. He announced his college choice at a commitment party at BurgerFi in Fort Lauderdale.
“Texas (has) been putting (running) backs in the league consistently, and I’ve been seeing consistent base with that,” Cooper said. “(Longhorns running backs coach Chad) Scott, he’s a great coach. I learned a lot from him when I got there (for a visit). He taught me a lot of things I use in my...
The Miami Hurricanes have not been to the College World Series in almost a decade. They’ll need to win consecutive games if they’re to end that drought this year.
The Hurricanes were blown out 8-1 by the Louisville Cardinals in the opening game of the NCAA super regionals Friday afternoon at Jim Patterson Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky. Now facing elimination, Miami will have to win back-to-back games over the Cardinals to advance to Omaha for the first time since 2016.
Game two of the best-of-three series will be played Saturday at 11 a.m. at Jim Patterson Stadium in Louisville.

A promising Miami Hurricanes underclassman is planning to enter the transfer portal.

CORAL GABLES — The Hurricanes closed out spring camp on Saturday with their annual spring game at the on-campus Cobb Stadium on Saturday. The defense got the better of the offense, edging their teammates 25-20.
“We feel really good about our spring,” Miami coach Mario Cristobal said. “We really do. We play football and we practice football, and we’re in pads, and the guys did a very good job attacking a very demanding regimen.”
The defense got a key stop early in the spring game, stopping four consecutive goal-line runs.
“As an offensive lineman, what do you think I’m going to say (about...
