Catch of the year candidate? Hurricanes receiver CJ Daniels scores insane TD | Video
MIAMI GARDENS — Wide receiver CJ Daniels introduced himself to Miami Hurricanes fans and the “Catholics vs. Convicts” rivalry with a stunning one-handed touchdown catch.
Daniels, making his Miami debut after transferring from LSU, skied for a one-handed touchdown catch at the goal line with 12 seconds left before halftime in the No. 10 Hurricanes’ game against No. 6 Notre Dame on Sunday night at Hard Rock Stadium.

Quarterback Carson Beck, also debuting for UM as a Georgia transfer, lofted a pass up toward the end zone as he took a hit. Daniels, between two Irish defenders, used his long 6-foot-2 frame to go up and bring it down with his right hand, tumbling over to secure the catch that gave the Hurricanes a 14-7 lead going into halftime.
Daniels was with LSU in 2024, collecting 42 catches for 480 yards. He didn’t have a touchdown for the Tigers last season, but spending his first four college seasons with Liberty, he had 10 touchdown catches in 2023 and seven in 2021.
Daniels is among a slew of wide receivers who transferred in this offseason to help Miami reload at a position where the team lost Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George, Isaiah Horton and Sam Brown, along with tight end Elijah Arroyo, a second-round NFL draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks.
