SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Miami’s Tyler Herro edged out Golden State’s Buddy Hield to win the 3-point contest at the NBA’s All-Star Saturday night.
Damian Lillard missed a chance to join Larry Bird and Craig Hodges as the only players to three-peat as 3-point champions with his score of 18 falling one point short of Herro for the final spot in the three-person final.
Herro became the fifth member of the Heat to win the contest, but the first in 14 years. The others have been Glen Rice (1995), Jason Kapono (2007), Daequan Cook (2009) and James Jones (2011).
Herro followed up his...
Could the Dolphins’ new wide receivers coach already be leaving for another job?
Just because the Miami Dolphins didn’t lose defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver to the New Orleans Saints’ head coaching job, it doesn’t mean they’re completely out of the woods from losing an assistant to the Saints.
New Dolphins wide receivers coach Robert Prince, who took the job less than a month ago, is interviewing for New Orleans’ offensive coordinator vacancy, according to NFL Network.
Prince, 59, came over to Miami after spending the past three seasons with the Cowboys’ leading wide receivers in Dallas. There, he spent the 2022 season under offensive coordinator Kellen Moore....

Things settling down for UCF coach Scott Frost after whirlwind return
When Scott Frost first stepped on the UCF campus in 2016, he was a fresh-faced 42-year-old looking to make his mark in his first head coaching job. Nearly a decade later, Frost is back with the program for his second stint, a little older and wiser.
Everything about his return is steeped in nostalgia — from the campus to the Bounce House to the Wayne Densch Center that holds his office, where he once spent countless hours.
“It felt weird being back, but strangely familiar, too. It was surreal,” Frost said during a 30-minute interview with area media at Nicholson Fieldhouse on Wednesday....

Winderman’s view: No matter the remix, Celtics still have the Heat’s number
MIAMI — Observations and other notes of interest from Monday night’s 103-85 loss to the Boston Celtics:
– Hope ruled the morning.
– “Stuff happened and it feels like a new team,” Heat center Bam Adebayo said after shootaround.
– Reality ruled the evening.
– For all the volume the Heat secured at last week’s NBA trading deadline for Jimmy Butler, they did not secure a star.
– That’s not who Andrew Wiggins is.
– Nor Davion Mitchell.
– Or Kyle Anderson.
– Each a supporting player.
– And with Tyler Herro out with a stomach illness, not much support on this night.
– With all due respect to...
Heat break out trade additions and then break down in 103-85 loss to Celtics
MIAMI – Not good enough with Jimmy Butler.
Not good enough with Jimmy Butler’s replacements.
And, so, a losing record now for the Miami Heat, at 25-26, after Monday night’s 103-85 loss to the Boston Celtics at Kaseya Center.
Granted, the Heat were without All-Star guard Tyler Herro, due to stomach illness, but the Celtics, by contrast, were more than capable of stomaching their absences of Jaylen Brown and Jrue Holiday, getting 33 points from Jayson Tatum and 16 points and 10 rebounds from Kristaps Porzingis.
As for the Butler replacement parts, it was a largely uneven debut night.
Andrew...
