UCF‘s home football game against Cincinnati will kick off as scheduled on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., despite the devastation from Hurricane Milton.
School officials announced Thursday evening that normal campus operations, including playing the game, would resume on Saturday. Final details surrounding gameday operations and hurricane relief efforts will be announced on Friday.
Hurricane Milton, which made landfall Wednesday evening, killed 12 people and left 3.2 million people without power. The Category 5 storm is expected to cause an estimated $160-$180 billion worth of damages and lost...
GATORS PODCAST: Florida travels to Tennessee as heavy underdogs but with some momentum (Ep. 247)
The Gators head to Rocky Top coming off a pair of convincing victories and now seeking a signature win in 2024. The rival Vols are 15.5-point favorites, but have not won consecutive visits from Florida since 1990 and ’92. Meanwhile, coach Billy Napier has not won consecutive road games at UF. Something’s got to give. During the latest Swamp Things, Edgar and Mark discuss the matchup ahead of Hurricane Milton’s arrival.

UF’s best strategy is to extend drives instead of trying to keep pace with high-octane Tennessee
GAINESVILLE — Florida coach Billy Napier wants to avoid a track meet at Tennessee.
The No. 8 Vols (4-1, 1-1 SEC) are unlikely to oblige.
Expect coach Josh Heupel’s up-tempo attack to be fast and furious Saturday night at sold-out Neyland Stadium after a 19-14 loss at Arkansas followed a so-so offensive showing during a 25-15 win at Oklahoma. During Heupel’s four seasons since leaving UCF for Knoxville, Tennessee averages nearly two touchdowns more at home (46.2 points per game) than on the road (32.6 ppg).
The 2024 Vols combined for 140 points in two home wins against outclassed Chattanooga...
After missing UF game, kicker Colton Boomer will transfer from UCF
UCF kicker Colton Boomer has announced he intends to use the NCAA’s redshirt rule and enter the transfer portal.
Boomer became the sixth player in the past week to opt out of the season and transfer. He announced his decision on social media Sunday night, a day after the Knights lost at Florida.
In a post on X, Boomer wrote: “To the UCF Fans – I love you guys so much. Kicking Bombs together has been on of the greatest privileges of my life. I always tried to make you proud and I gave you my all. From my first game at FAU, to Boise, to Norman, and to that last extra point at TCU, I will...
UCF kicker Colton Boomer won’t play against Gators
UCF was without starting kicker Colton Boomer for its road showdown against Florida on Saturday night.
According to the school’s sports information department, the junior was injured and didn’t make the trip to Gainesville. Freshman Grant Reddick is filling in for Boomer, getting his first start of the season.
Boomer was 3 of 6 on field-goal attempts but missed his last three, two blocked in the 35-34 win against TCU on Sept. 15. He missed a 55-yard attempt last week in the 48-21 loss to Colorado at FBC Mortgage Stadium.
A product of Lake Mary High, Boomer has connected on 30 of 42 field...
Several UCF players opt for redshirts before UF game, intend to transfer
UCF defensive ends Kaven Call, offensive tackle Wes Dorsey, and safety William Wells are among a handful of players redshirting and entering the transfer portal.
The school announced the moves before the Knights’ road contest at Florida on Saturday night.
Under the NCAA’s redshirt rule, players can play up to four regular-season games without counting toward their four years of eligibility.
Call, a sophomore from Apopka, registered 2 tackles in three games this season, primarily as a backup to Nyjalik Kelly and Malachi Lawrence. The 3-star prospect helped the Blue Darters win three state...
UCF takes center stage on Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff show
As host of Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff, Rob Stone has visited some premier college football environments.
He’s seen the iconic venues of Big Ten country such as the Horseshoe at Ohio State or the Big House at Michigan to the rolling hills surrounding West Virginia and the stockyards near TCU in the Big 12.
But the show has never been to the Sunshine State — until this week, when it will broadcast live from Memory Mall on the UCF campus. The Knights host Colorado at FBC Mortgage Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
“It’s about time we came to Florida,” Stone told the Orlando Sentinel this week. “It’s about time...
Billy Napier doesn’t sound like a coach who’s days at Florida are numbered
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Billy Napier didn’t sound like a coach who’s days at Florida are numbered.
Napier was ready to get to work during the bye week as the Gators prepare for an Oct. 5 visit from UCF (3-0).
A 45-28 win Saturday at Mississippi State was a start, but much ground remains to make up.
“It’s good to win a game like that and go into the open date,” Napier said. “I told him in the locker room, Look, we’re going to rest and recover, but when you show up Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week, we’re working.
“We have work to do to improve, and we’ve got to put all of our heads...
No. 8 Hurricanes crush USF, moving to 4-0 before conference play begins
TAMPA — The Hurricanes took the Bulls‘ best punch on Saturday night, and they left Raymond James Stadium with their record unscathed.
After a tug-of-war in the first half, No. 8 Miami (4-0) pulled away in the second half and notched a 50-15 win over upstart USF (2-2), which has proven its mettle in closely fought games against both UM and Alabama. The Hurricanes are 6-1 all-time against the Bulls.
South Florida was arguably Miami’s toughest test through the first third of the season, taking the lead from Miami twice in the first half. But the Hurricanes battled back both times before...
