UCF kicker Colton Boomer won’t play against Gators
UCF was without starting kicker Colton Boomer for its road showdown against Florida on Saturday night.
According to the school’s sports information department, the junior was injured and didn’t make the trip to Gainesville. Freshman Grant Reddick is filling in for Boomer, getting his first start of the season.
Boomer was 3 of 6 on field-goal attempts but missed his last three, two blocked in the 35-34 win against TCU on Sept. 15. He missed a 55-yard attempt last week in the 48-21 loss to Colorado at FBC Mortgage Stadium.
A product of Lake Mary High, Boomer has connected on 30 of 42 field goals (71%) during his career and 109 of 113 of extra points (96.5%). He also was responsible for kickoffs this season, averaging 63.7 yards, with 20 of 23 being touchbacks.
Reddick attended Boone High School.
