WACO, Texas — Former Hurricanes stalwart Norchad Omier collected his 12th double-double of the season and the 80th of his career as Baylor defeated UCF 91-76 on Saturday to sweep the Big 12 season series.
The senior from Bluefields, Nicaragua, came into the game tied with Oscar Robertson and Michael Brooks for ninth all-time in double-doubles. After scoring a team-high 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, he is now tied with Malik Rose for eighth.
Moustapha Thiam knocked down a 3 with 6:09 left in the first half to give the Knights (13-10, 4-8) a 25-21 lead, but Omier hit a pair at the...
UCF’s losing streak grows to three with home loss to Cincinnati
During halftime of UCF‘s game against Cincinnati, the video board at Addition Financial Arena displayed the latest Bracketology report from ESPN. The latest projection had the Knights as the final team in the 68-team NCAA tournament field.
There was no doubt that Wednesday’s showdown carried a little extra juice with both teams desperately needing a win to improve their postseason hopes.
Although UCF started strong, the Knights could not maintain momentum as Cincinnati secured a 93-83 victory.
“We’ve got to be better and capable of it,” said coach Johnny Dawkins. “It’s a long season and...

Shorthanded UCF struggles late in loss to BYU
With its top scorer sidelined due to foul trouble and its postseason hopes hanging in the balance, UCF basketball found itself in an untenable situation.
Even down four players — including leading scorer Keyshawn Hall, who missed most of the first half in foul trouble — the Knights managed to keep the game close against visiting BYU before eventually falling 81-75 at home on Saturday.
Hall picked up two quick fouls and then was assessed a technical foul at the 13:26 mark in the first half after arguing with officials. The junior entered the game averaging 18 points per game and was coming...

Former UCF assistant Ted Roof files breach of contract lawsuit against school
Former UCF defensive coordinator Ted Roof has filed a lawsuit against the UCF Athletics Association, claiming a breach of contract.

Jamie Seh of WKMG-TV was the first to report the lawsuit.
Roof joined Malzahn’s coaching staff on Jan. 17, 2024, after serving as defensive coordinator at Oklahoma in 2022-23. He signed a two-year contract with the school that paid him a...
Wisconsin raises possibility of tampering in CB Xavier Lucas’ transfer to Miami
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin says it has “credible information” that Miami and Xavier Lucas made impermissible contact with each other before the former Badgers cornerback decided to transfer to his home-state school.
Lucas’ lawyer, Darren Heitner, said Friday that his client was going to play for Miami even though Wisconsin had never entered Lucas’ name into the transfer portal.
Wisconsin issued a statement Saturday saying it hadn’t put Lucas’ name into the portal because he had entered into a two-year binding name, image and likeness agreement with “substantial financial compensation” for...
No. 5 Gators bounce back to hand Longhorns Texas-sized defeat behind Martin, Clayton
GAINESVILLE — Florida delivered its SEC welcome to Texas — back in Gainesville for the first time since 1996 — with a performance the Gators desperately needed.
No. 5 UF returned to the win column with an 84-60 victory Saturday after a trying week on and off the court, including a tough loss at home and more turmoil inside Todd Golden’s program.
“We came out and we showed that dog mentality,” veteran guard Alijah Martin said. “We did what we had to do.”

Michael McClenton is excited about being Scott Frost’s first commitment since returning to coach at UCF.
The 6-foot, 200-pound linebacker from Ocoee High School announced his decision in a post on social media on Tuesday, less than two weeks after receiving an offer from the school.
As it turns out, the decision to join the Knights’ 2026 recruiting class was an easy one.
“I decided to commit to UCF because it’s always been a dream of mine,” McClenton told the Orlando Sentinel. “I liked how coach Frost and [defensive tackles] coach Kenny Martin came to my school and impressed me. They sold...
