A Fort Lauderdale man who allegedly staged a home invasion against a 75-year-old Central Beach resident spent his second day in jail on Sunday, suspected by police of beating, robbing and attempting to strangle his victim before stealing his car and $4,000 in cash. Joseph Soini, 48, was arrested on North Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale early Saturday in the condo resident’s stolen auto, Fort Lauderdale Police said in a statement. Woman hospitalized after shooting on I-595 in Davie, fire rescue says

A woman was hospitalized Friday evening after a shooting on Interstate 595 in Davie, a fire rescue official said. Davie Fire Rescue responded to an area of I-595 westbound, east of Hiatus Road shortly before 8 p.m. for reports of a shooting, Fire Marshal Robert Taylor said Friday night. The woman was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale as a trauma alert, Taylor said.
