St. Thomas Aquinas coach Roger Harriott was soft-spoken at the Broward County Athletic Association’s media day. He wasn’t jittery, antsy or oozing with energy like so many other high school football coaches.
For the head of a program that’s won four consecutive state championships and 27 straight games, it’s a bit surprising. Instead, it’s a calm confidence. A trust in his own abilities and the talent of his players and coaching staff to stay on top of the Class 3M mountaintop.
And just like in years past, Aquinas returns loads of talented players.
Harriott listed almost every single...
Last year’s 4M state semifinal still stings the Palm Beach Central football team.
The Broncos led visiting Apopka by 15 points in the second half before crumbling to a 27-24 defeat.
That hunger for revenge has carried over into training camp as Palm Beach Central still eyes its first trip to the state final. However, they will have to do it without Ahmad Haston, their stud quarterback and the Sun Sentinel’s 2022 Palm Beach County 4M-3M offensive player of the year. He graduated and is now playing at Massachusetts.
As of Monday, coach Kevin Thompson said there’s a three-man race among junior...
A high school football game between Miami Booker T. Washington High School and Plantation’s American Heritage School was halted and eventually canceled on Friday night after a player from Heritage suffered a medical emergency during the first quarter.
Medical staff from Heritage on the scene at Traz Powell Stadium on Miami Dade College’s North campus responded immediately when one of the team’s players collapsed on the sideline. Paramedics were seen administering CPR to the player who remained on the ground for several minutes. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the call from the schools...
