When Mason Mallory left the 2024 6A state champion West Boca Raton program and transferred to St. Thomas Aquinas, there was no guarantee he would wind up being the starter.
After all, senior quarterback Brady Palmer, a Temple commit, transferred in and was the penciled-in starter in the fall, with Mallory listed No. 3 on the depth chart.
“When I first met Coach Roger Harriott, and looked him in his eyes, I told him I was going to get him another one,” said Mallory, who did just that as he became the starter and helped the Raiders win a state record seventh straight state championship, and...
Braylen Bennett lit up the track scene this year for American Heritage.
The Patriots junior, who was instrumental in the school winning the 4A state football championship in the fall, closed out his junior campaign with three more state championship medals in track.
“I think the season was good,” said Bennett, who came back from a hip injury in his freshman year that plagued him through last year as well, forcing him to continue with physical therapy. “As this season went on, my times kept dropping. I felt I was getting better, stronger, and faster by the end.”
Bennett said he grew up...
It is hard to believe that St. Thomas Aquinas senior quarterback Andrew Indorf hasn’t found a college suitor for his services.
DJ Khaled’s song lyric, “All I do is win” definitely applies to Indorf. He rescued the Raiders in the regional finals against host Atlantic as he rallied St. Thomas from a two-touchdown deficit to pull out the 49-42 victory in double-OT and then the following week helped the Raiders to a 16-13 win over Bradenton Manatee.
“I always believe in myself, and I always believe that I am the best,” said Indorf, who ran for one TD and passed for another in a 34-0 Class 5A...
This year, South Broward senior running back Chris Wheatley-Humphrey and St. Thomas Aquinas senior runner Jordan Lyle are sharing the Broward County 4M-3M offensive player of the year award.
Next year, they will share a backfield in Coral Gables.
Lyle shook the recruiting landscape on Monday, Dec. 18, when he flipped his commitment from Ohio State to the University of Miami, where Wheatley-Humphrey has been committed for a while.
It should be quite the competition.
Wheatley-Humphrey, who ran for 2,076 yards and 16 touchdowns and helped the Bulldogs win their first district title in 26...
West Boca junior Angelica Blimegger capped off a memorable season with an individual state championship and is the Sun Sentinel Palm Beach girls bowler of the year.
Blimegger is just the second girls bowler from Palm Beach County to capture an FHSAA individual state title. She finished 10th in the girls individual state qualifier with a total of 812 (215-198-201-198). She won five consecutive best-of-three matchups in the girls individual bracket final. She also recorded a personal-high 289 game in high school during the state final.
Blimegger finished as the district runner-up as a...

King’s Academy senior Kate Taylor was a leader both on and off the sand for the Lions beach volleyball team this past season.
Taylor, who partnered with freshman Britain Taylor (no relation) for the past two seasons on Line 1, proceeded to win 38 consecutive matches over two years before falling this year in the FHSAA state quarterfinals. The duo won their opening game, 21-13 before falling 21-18 and 15-9 to lose the opening position in three games to Vero Beach, 3-2.
