Woman arrested in Aug. 11 hit-and-run crash that left man permanently injured
A woman who detectives have been searching for months after she allegedly crashed into a man who was helping push a broken down car was found and arrested Thursday afternoon, police said.
Tydaijah Sade Lashone Murray, 29, is facing charges of leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury, failure to remain on the scene of an accident involving injury, driving with a suspended license and resisting without violence, Fort Lauderdale Police said in a news release Thursday evening.
Murray had evaded detectives since Aug. 11, when police say she crashed into Yevhenii Arsirii, 31, as he was helping to push someone’s disabled car out of the road in the 2300 block of Northwest Sixth Street shortly after midnight. Arsirii became trapped between the two cars, he previously told the Sun Sentinel, and one of his legs had to be amputated.
Murray ran away from the crash scene afterward, Fort Lauderdale Police said. Another person at the scene who was helping to push the car as well as the driver of that car both had minor injuries but did not need to be taken to the hospital.
Murray was arrested shortly after 1 p.m., the police department said. They did not provide further information about their investigation or where detectives found her.
She was held in the Broward Main Jail as of Thursday night.
