Six victims in Boynton Beach shooting identified; one dead, two remain hospitalized

Two of the six people who were shot during an altercation at a gathering in Boynton Beach early Sunday morning remain hospitalized, officials said.

Officers were called to the 500 block of Northeast Second Street about 1:40 a.m. Sunday, where they found five people who had been shot. The sixth victim took himself to a hospital and was later found, the police department said in a statement.

Davon Wood, 31, of Fort Lauderdale, later died from his injuries. Those who survived were James Laurent, 36, of Lake Worth Beach; Josue Jean, 34, of Boynton Beach; Keith Clemons, 38, of Port St. Lucie; Derrick Dorsonne, 24, of Delray Beach; and Jephte Matilus, 32, of Delray Beach.

Laurent and Jean were the only people who remained in the hospital, as of Tuesday morning, the police department said. They were both in stable condition.

Chelsea Sanabia, a police department spokesperson, said in an email Wednesday that she did not have further information about the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
