Hurricanes fall in latest College Football Playoff rankings
Unsurprisingly, the Miami Hurricanes took a tumble in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings following their first loss of the season.
Fortunately for Miami, a path to the playoff is still wide open despite falling to No. 9 on Tuesday night after ranking fourth in the initial rankings. UM also fell to No. 12 in other polls on Sunday.
The Hurricanes were seeded fourth as one of the likely Power 4 conference champions. That would give UM a first-round bye.
As long as the Hurricanes win the ACC title, they have a clear path to a first-round bye in the playoffs. If they lose another game, the path gets more treacherous.
Miami does not have another ranked team on its schedule for the remainder of the regular season. If the Hurricanes make the ACC title game, they will likely face No. 14 SMU, which is undefeated in conference play.
