Detectives search for gray sedan involved in drive-by shooting that injured boy

A 10-year-old boy was injured in a drive-by shooting last month while crossing the street in a residential area of Pompano Beach, and an arrest has not yet been made.

The Sheriff’s Office released video on Monday that shows a gray sedan driving in the area near the 300 block of Northwest 18th Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. on March 21, where the 10-year-old boy was walking across the street while dribbling a basketball and another person was riding a scooter.

Shots were fired out of the car, which then fled north, the Sheriff’s Office said. The person riding the scooter fell to the ground, then rode away after the car fled, and the boy was seen in the video running away, appearing to limp.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue took the boy to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said. The scooter rider was not injured.

Additional information about the sedan was not released Monday.

Detectives ask anyone with information on the shooting or the identity or location of the subject or vehicle to contact BSO Violent Crimes Det. Brittany Armstrong at 954-321-4888, submit a tip through the SaferWatch app or anonymously contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477), online at browardcrimestoppers.org or by dialing **TIPS (8477) from any cellphone.
