Is It Easier To Find a Home To Buy Now?

One of the biggest hurdles buyers have faced over the past few years has been a lack of homes available for sale. But that’s starting to change. The graph below uses the latest data from Realtor.com to show there are more homes on the market in 2024 than there have been in any of the past several years (2021-2023):Does That Mean Finding a Home Is Easier? The answer is yes, and no. As an article from Realtor.com says:“There were nearly 15% more homes for sale in February than a year earlier . . . Federal judges uphold DeSantis’ redistricting plan

TALLAHASSEE — A three-judge federal panel Wednesday rejected a constitutional challenge to a congressional redistricting plan that Gov. Ron DeSantis pushed through the Legislature in 2022, saying opponents did not prove lawmakers acted with “racially discriminatory purpose.” The decision was the second time in less than four months that courts have upheld the map in cases focused on the overhaul of a North Florida district that in the past elected a Black Democrat. The state’s 1st District Court of Appeal on Dec. 1 backed the plan — a decision that has been appealed to the Florida Supreme Court. The...

Winderman’s view: Heat learn that sometimes we-have-enough isn’t enough

MIAMI — Observations and other notes of interest from Tuesday night’s 113-92 loss to the Golden State Warriors: – Basically this simple: The Warriors had weapons, the Heat didn’t. – Or at least not enough available. – It’s not that the Heat don’t, just that they weren’t in uniform. – Which kind of matters. – Not only again without Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson and Kevin Love. – But this time without Jimmy Butler, as well, due to illness. – Not exactly how you want to go into it against Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green and the rest of the Warriors who showed up. – Patty...

No Butler and not much of a shot for Heat in 113-92 loss to Curry, Warriors

MIAMI — One team arrived Tuesday night to Kaseya Center fully loaded, the other significantly shorthanded. It played out as expected. On a night the Miami Heat not only were without Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson and Kevin Love, but this time also lacked Jimmy Butler, Erik Spoelstra’s team ultimately was no match for Stephen Curry and his fully ambulatory friends. So Golden State Warriors 113, Heat 92. “We could never get it to the moment of truth,” Spoelstra said. It basically a night of Heat center Bam Adebayo looking for a friend and most of his friendly faces out of view, Butler due to illness,...

What’s the Latest with Mortgage Rates?

Recent headlines may leave you wondering what’s next for mortgage rates. Maybe you’d previously heard there were going to be cuts this year that would bring rates down. That refers to the Federal Reserve (the Fed) and what they do to their Fed Funds Rate. While cutting, or lowering, the Fed Funds Rate doesn’t directly determine mortgage rates, it does tend to impact them. But when the Fed met last week, a cut didn’t happen — at least, not yet. There are a lot of factors the Fed considered in their recent decision and most of them are complex. But you don’t need to be bogged down by those finer...
