Marlins trade Jesus Sanchez to Houston Astros for pitcher, two prospects
The Marlins parted ways with their longest tenured outfielder on Thursday, sending Jesus Sanchez to Houston less than two hours before Major League Baseball’s trade deadline.
In return, Miami acquired right-handed pitcher Ryan Gusto and two prospects — shortstop Chase Jaworsky (rated by MLB.com as Houston’s No. 13 prospect) and outfielder Esmil Valencia.
Gusto, 26, is 7-4 with a 4.92 ERA in 24 games and 14 starts for Houston in his first major league season. He has allowed 95 hits, with 28 walks, in 86 innings, with 87 strikeouts.
