NEW YORK (AP) — Jeannie Seely, the soulful country music singer behind such standards like “Don’t Touch Me,” has died. She was 85.
Her publicist, Don Murry Grubbs, said she died Friday after succumbing to complications from an intestinal infection.

The University of California, Los Angeles, reached a $6 million settlement with three Jewish students and a Jewish professor whose suit against the university argued it violated their civil rights by allowing pro-Palestinian protesters in 2024 to block their access to classes and other areas on campus.

Washington (AP) — A coalition of 20 state attorneys general filed a lawsuit Monday challenging the Trump administration’s demand that their states turn over personal data of people enrolled in a federally funded food assistance program, fearing the information will be used to aid mass deportations.

NEW YORK (AP) — A shooting at a midtown Manhattan office building on Monday left at least five people dead, including an off-duty New York City police officer, officials said.
Police identified the gunman as Shane Tamura, of Las Vegas, and said he fatally shot himself. He had a ‘documented mental health history,’ but the motive is still unknown, police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a news conference.
