General Daily Insight for December 20, 2023

Our words and our emotions may not sync up quite as easily as we’d like. The Moon is moving through fiery Aries, turning the heat up for all of us, but that energy could express itself rather uncomfortably when the Moon starts a debate with Mercury in no-nonsense Capricorn at 12:42 am EST. This angle is already difficult to handle, but Mercury is also retrograde, so it’s even easier than usual to make mistakes or say the wrong thing. We would all benefit from handling things with patience.

Aries

March 21 – April 19

Just because you feel something doesn’t mean you need to say it! It could be difficult, however, to keep your mouth shut as the Moon in your 1st House of Self-Expression squares motormouth Mercury, currently retrograde in your 10th House of Reputation. If there has ever been a day when you were bound to stick your foot in your mouth, this would be it. At minimum, try to minimize your potential audience. If you must take the stage, keep anything past the essentials to yourself.

Taurus

April 20 – May 20

Something is off, and you know it — even if you can’t tell why. It could feel as though someone’s entered your house and moved all your furniture an inch to the left, as Luna in your subconscious sector pranks Mercury in your learning zone. New experiences may seem like your way out of a rut, but Mercury Retrograde means that such efforts probably won’t live up to your expectations. Don’t think this will last forever, but do save your adventures for another time.

Gemini

May 21 – June 20

Serious issues might yank you away from fun-loving friends. Regardless of your social desires with the Moon highlighting your friendly 11th house, the universe isn’t in the mood for a party when the Moon squares retrograde Mercury in your intense 8th house. This is a sign to watch out for all sorts of heavy concerns. A financial bugbear may require your attention, or perhaps someone calls in a big favor and you have to drop everything to assist. Prepare yourself accordingly.

Cancer

June 21 – July 22

Someone may stand in the way of your best intentions. You’re focused on working your way up the ladder as the Moon tours your ambitious 10th house, but a lunar square to Mercury in your partnership sector could stir up another peer’s voice and cause them to demand your attention when you’re busy elsewhere. You may need to drop everything to tend to them. This could be irritating, which is fair, but avoiding letting frustration show if this person means well.

Leo

July 23 – August 22

An adventure may be tempting, but it’s not necessarily realistic. The Moon in your far-flung 9th house is outlining a flight plan for you, but you’ll be reminded of your more immediate responsibilities when the Moon squares Mercury in your efficient 6th house. Yes, there are exciting options available to you, but you’ll need to complete all the chores on your to-do list before you can chase after them. If you roll up your sleeves first, you can turn around and play later.

Virgo

August 23 – September 22

Deciding whether to show your cards or keep them close to your chest won’t be a simple thing. The potent square between the Moon in your private 8th house and Mercury in your expressive 5th house is shoving you back and forth between these two extremes. Unfortunately, with Mercury currently retrograde, your desire for exposure probably won’t work too well. With that in mind, your best bet would be to keep things under wraps for the time being, then play your cards another day.

Libra

September 23 – October 22

People could rouse your emotions without much warning. The Moon is in your partnership-focused 7th house, turning your attention toward important people. Even so, its square to Mercury in your emotional 4th house could trigger someone to say or do something that totally pushes your buttons. Try to properly gauge whether or not this person is attempting to get a rise out of you, because if it’s a misunderstanding you’ll want to be polite. If not, you can tell them where to go!

Scorpio

October 23 – November 21

Your most responsible urges may not be enough to salvage the day. The Moon is marching through your efficient 6th house, making it seem easy to start checking off chores. That said, the lunar square to Mercury Retrograde in your messy 3rd house could leave you turning this way and that as distractions grow like weeds. It’s entirely possible there will be so many things clamoring for your attention that you get none of your normal work done, so don’t expect too much productivity.

Sagittarius

November 22 – December 21

Mundane matters may throw an otherwise exciting day off course. Fun is calling your name as the Moon turns up the volume in your effervescent 5th house, but you may have to deal with material issues when Luna squares Mercury in your income-focused 2nd house. Perhaps your fun costs more than you had expected, or an urgent work matter pops into your inbox. It’s never nice to have to postpone your pleasures, but it’ll be easier to have fun once you’ve handled your responsibilities.

Capricorn

December 22 – January 19

Knowing what you’re about isn’t presently the simplest thing. Your own sense of self could seem impossible to comprehend as Luna in your sensitive 4th house squares Mercury in your sign. Normally this transit can bring realizations and important conversations, but with the messenger planet spinning retrograde, you may find yourself unable to articulate your thoughts or bring them to any useful conclusions. Don’t force yourself to put on a show if you’re not feeling up to it! Staying quiet is a wise decision.

Aquarius

January 20 – February 18

Your subconscious is louder than normal. A square between the Moon in your busy 3rd house and Mercury in your sleepy 12th house may send you pinging back and forth between one thing and another, while knowing how you feel about it all ends up being oddly difficult. Don’t be shocked if you feel like you’re just drifting — in fact, the less you try to control things, the more easily you should be able to see where you’re going. Turn up your own voice.

Pisces

February 19 – March 20

Just because you want to have fun doesn’t mean you can easily do it. The Moon in your 2nd House of Finances is squaring Mercury in your 11th House of Social Networks, initiating tension between work and play. People may beg for you to come and join them, but keep in mind that you do not have to say yes. It’s okay if your obligations are too urgent to be put on the back burner. Most fun will probably have to wait for another day.
