Former NFL receiver Antonio Brown arrested in Broward, accused of not paying child support

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown was arrested in Broward County Sunday on a warrant for allegedly failing to pay child support, court records say. A Broward Sheriff’s Office Civil Division deputy pulled over a cab in the 1000 block of Griffin Road in Dania Beach Sunday afternoon and made contact with Brown, 35, who lives in Hollywood, in the backseat, a probable cause affidavit said. He had an active arrest warrant out of Miami-Dade County. The affidavit did not contain further details. The arrest warrant, issued in early August, was related to a 2013 paternity case involving his minor...

General Daily Insight for October 16, 2023

General Daily Insight for October 16, 2023 Should we stay or should we go? The emotional Moon opposes expansive Jupiter at 7:31 am EDT — we’re potentially torn between moving beyond our boundaries and staying in our comfort zones. It is difficult to break past certain boundaries today, because where we are may feel so comfortable that it would take significant effort to move away from it. We’re more emotionally sensitive and easily hurt as well, due to the Moon struggling with wounded healer Chiron. Let’s go easy on ourselves. Aries March 21 – April 19 The ground may not be as stable as it...

Herro, Adebayo sizzle in Butler exhibition absence as Heat down Grizzlies

MIAMI – No, not a formal dress rehearsal, not with Jimmy Butler out for the third time in as many exhibitions. But Sunday night’s 132-124 preseason victory over the Memphis Grizzlies at Kaseya Center gave some hint of who and what the Miami Heat might be when they open their regular season Oct. 25 against the visiting Detroit Pistons. Kevin Love and Kyle Lowry each started for the second time in as many appearances this preseason. Haywood Highsmith was cast as both a perimeter and power component, some type of rotation role now seemingly likely. Thomas Bryant again played as preferred option...

Dave Hyde: Next up, the Eagles, as Dolphins try to confirm all this good news

MIAMI GARDENS — Once again, the Miami Dolphins offered a tribute to the improbable Sunday by scoring 35 straight points. Once again, Tyreek Hill got deep on a defense whose primary intent was keeping him from getting deep and, once again, Tua Tagovailoa threw the touchdown. And so, for once in a long while, they’ve earned the national stage next Sunday in Philadelphia against the Eagles (5-1). “It’s about time the Dolphins play some meaningful games,” linebacker Jerome Baker said after the 42-21 win over the Carolina Panthers (0-6). Baker sat at the locker he has sat for six years, making him...

Hurricanes crumble in second half to fall to North Carolina, dropping their second straight game

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — North Carolina wide receiver Tez Walker had a protracted battle with the NCAA, trying to secure his eligibility for this season. He showed why the No. 12 Tar Heels (6-0, 3-0 ACC) wanted him on the field so badly, scoring three touchdowns to lead North Carolina to a 41-31 win over No. 25 Miami (4-2, 0-2 ACC) at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on Saturday. The loss was the Hurricanes’ second in a row and their fifth straight defeat against the Tar Heels. UNC quarterback Drake Maye finished the game with 17 completions on 33 passes for 273 yards. Three...

Luna also joins with powerful Mars, the ruler of Scorpio, doubling down and heightening our desires for privacy, intimacy, and honesty. Finally, at 3:44 pm EDT, the confident Sun struggles with eccentric Uranus. Without a proper release valve, the extra anxiety and worry this adds to those intense emotions can explode in frustration. Remember: we’re in control of our self-expression. Aries March...

Wembanyama the story in Spurs home debut, but Cain has moments for Heat in preseason loss

The crowd at Friday night’s exhibition at Frost Bank Center deemed attendance worthy because of the home debut of San Antonio Spurs No. 1 draft pick Victor Wembanyama. Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra deemed it worthy because of the opportunity to explore the back end of his 21-player preseason roster. So while Wembanyama had his moments in his team’s 120-104 victory at the building formerly known as the AT&T Center, with 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting, four rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots in 22:51, Spoelstra’s focus was on what remained of a roster that left nine rotation...

Louise Glück, Nobel-winning poet of terse and candid lyricism, dies at 80

By HILLEL ITALIE (AP National Writer) NEW YORK (AP) — Nobel laureate Louise Glück, a poet of unblinking candor and perception who wove classical allusions, philosophical reveries, bittersweet memories and humorous asides into indelible portraits of a fallen and heartrending world, has died at 80. Glück’s death was confirmed Friday by Jonathan Galassi, her editor at Farrar, Straus & Giroux. Additional details were not immediately available. Over more than 60 years of published work, Glück forged a narrative of trauma, disillusion, stasis and longing, spelled by moments — but only moments...
