Dolphins adding safety depth with veteran Marcus Maye

The Miami Dolphins were thought to need depth at safety, and they addressed that hole Monday night after last week’s conclusion of the offseason workout program. The Dolphins are signing veteran safety Marcus Maye, according to a league source. Maye, 31, has 77 NFL starts over seven seasons — the first five with the New York Jets and the past two with the New Orleans Saints. He has 409 career tackles, eight interceptions and 28 pass deflections, having played both free and strong safety. Maye’s 2023 season with the Saints was cut short, on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury. He also served...

WEST PALM BEACH (AP) — Days after a shark attack in the Florida panhandle cost teenager Lulu Gribbin her left hand and right leg, her mother said the first words she uttered after surgery were “I made it.” Gribbin was one of three people injured in shark attacks Friday over the course of about 90 minutes in Walton County. In a post on Caringbridge.org, Lulu Gribbin’s mother, Ann Blair Gribbin, said the attack happened during her first mother-daughter beach trip with Lulu. She recounted the scene as “something out of a movie” and said her daughter was on a sand bar in waist-high water looking...

James Tibbs III sends FSU to College World Series for 24th time

TALLAHASSEE — James Tibbs III had all the answers Saturday, except one for Florida State. He’d just hit his third home run of the game, a two-run shot in the top of the 12th inning, to carry the No. 8 seed Seminoles back to the College World Series for the 24h time in defeating UConn, 10-8, and sweeping the Tallahassee Regional. “I sat on the bench and I told the coaches and everybody around us, ‘It’s getting to the top [of the lineup]. It’s done.’ I went up to [first baseman Daniel] Cantu and I was like, ‘I’m going to end it right here.’ “That was pure luck. I was just confident. I was just...
